Sheila Arnold – Impressionen
Release Concert "Brahms Intimissimo | Blüthner 1862"
Schloß Morsbroich, 1 December 2024
Looking back at Sheila Arnold's CD release concert from a year ago, it still feels as if it all happened just yesterday. The concert took place on December 1st, and on November 30th we arrived early at Schloß Morsbroich for sound checks, tuning, and all the preparations before the performance. Working closely with the historic Blüthner 1862, whose warm and intimate sound shaped the entire project, made those two days even more special. The focused work and quiet excitement remain wonderful memories for us.
We are truly grateful to have completed so many projects together with Sheila. Her professionalism, her constant flow of fresh ideas, and her unique and sensitive musical interpretations inspire us again and again, pushing us to make each project better. It is our privilege to collaborate with an artist of her caliber
The piece featured in this video is Brahms: Ballade Op. 10 No. 2, also included on Sheila Arnold's Brahms album.

A Furiosa by Brazilian composer Paulo Bellinati is a fiery and rhythmically driven work that captures the spirit of Brazilian music — its pulse, color, and passion. Infused with samba rhythms and intricate counterpoint, the piece demands both precision and intensity, revealing the guitar's full expressive and percussive potential. In this performance, the Rheinsaiten Guitar Quartet — Ema Kapor, Daniel Maerz, Miguel Mandelli, and Yucen Du — channels that energy with striking unity and finesse. Formed along the banks of the Rhine River, Rheinsaiten brings together four internationally trained artists whose diverse musical backgrounds merge into a distinctive voice. Their interpretation of A Furiosa reflects not only technical mastery, but also the ensemble's shared spirit — bold, vibrant, and deeply connected to the music's emotional fire.
Brazilian guitarist Miguel Mandelli , a leading figure among the new generation of Brazilian classical guitarists, Mandelli is known for his refined tone, technical precision, and deep musical insight. His interpretation blends clarity and expressive warmth, revealing new shades of Bach's contrapuntal writing on the guitar.
The Gigue is the joyful final movement of Bach's D minor Partita — a suite originally written for solo violin. Before the profound emotional depth of the famous Chaconne, the Gigue bursts forth with rhythmic vitality and dance-like brightness, symbolizing renewal and motion after introspection.
This video was filmed in the peaceful chapel of Kloster Porz, Cologne, whose natural acoustics bring out the resonance and purity of Bach's music.
Special thanks to our generous sponsor, whose support made this recording possible.
We are thrilled to present the Guitar Quartet RHEINSAITEN in their performance of Aragonaise — a vibrant Spanish dance from Georges Bizet's Carmen Suite, arranged for four guitars by William Kanengiser. Full of rhythmic vitality and percussive flair, this piece captures the fiery spirit of Spanish music.
Founded in 2013, RHEINSAITEN brings together four internationally acclaimed soloists and educators:
Ema Kapor, Miguel Mandelli, Yucen Du, and Daniel März — all based in Germany and winners of numerous prestigious guitar competitions.

Intermezzi by Stephen Goss (b. 1964) Is Inspired by the Lieder of Franz Schubert, Intermezzi is a collection of six pieces that reimagine Schubert's musical language in new and unexpected ways. Meanwhile, Nocturne, Bagatelle, and Serenade evoke the dreamlike atmosphere of Schubert's night songs, serenades, and musical depictions of rivers and water, capturing their lyricism and emotional depth.
Hubert Kaeppel Performs Schubert's "Ständchen" on Classical Guitar
We are proud to present a special performance by Hubert Kaeppel, interpreting Franz Schubert's beloved Ständchen on classical guitar. Recorded live at E-Werk Köln, this exquisite arrangement brings out the lyrical beauty and emotional depth of Schubert's masterpiece.
